Research News

The disorder is the consequence of miscoding a single amino acid in the sodium-potassium-pump. The figure shows the ion binding domain of the sodium-potassium-pump, where the mutation has inserted the amino acid arginine (grey with blue areas), which affects the positioning of another amino acid, glutamate (grey with red areas), such that the binding of potassium (shown as yellow spheres) is disturbed.

New research uncovers Conn’s Syndrome

Scientists at Aarhus University have revealed the mechanism behind Conn’s syndrome, which causes the high blood pressure in one to seven percent of all patients with hypertension. This result has been newly published in Nature Genetics.
