Speakers

  • Torben Heick Jensen, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics
    • Titel: Pervasive Transcription of the Human Genome
    • Teaser: 'Only 2-3% of transcribed RNA ends up in protein-coding mRNA. What about the rest? And should we even care?'
  • Jacob Giehm Mikkelsen, Department of Biomedicine
    • Titel: Roads to personalized medicine by targeted gene correction
    • Teaser: 'Personalised medicine is an approach to health care based on the unique genetic makeup of patients. Novel genome editing technologies offer the possibility to correct disease-causing gene variants and are already being explored as personalised medicines. Still, translation into the clinic awaits further studies of efficacy and safety, and novel ways of delivering gene editing tool kits to cells and tissues are needed. The vision is to generate gene editing drugs that can fix genomic errors within days and then vanish. I will discuss some of the strategies that we are currently working on in Aarhus to push gene editing forward as precision medicine'.
