Hej, I am Fatih and an assistant professor and my background is biology with a profound experience in mass spectrometry and corresponding method development. My focus is especially on proteolysis, the processing of proteins by proteases which plays a major role for many diseases. Currently, I am conducting research to identify and modulate proteolytic activity in several human diseases to improve treatment, with a particular focus on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
I teach prospective MDs in the study programme bachelor of medicine. With the help of tutorials and bachelor projects, my goal is to enable the students to identify cutting edge complement/protease research relevant in a patient context. I have also contributed to several chapters in the Methods in Molecular Biology book series (MIMB, V2447 and MIMB, V1574) about mass spectrometry-based methods for proteolysis research and corresponding data analysis and validation.
My primary area of responsibility is performing research in human diseases and teaching bachelor students in medicine.
