Mental health is a multifaceted and dynamic trait that extend beyond the absence of mental illness. It concerns our emotional, psychological and social well-being, and affects how we think, feel and cope with life’s challenges and rewards. Mental health is shaped in an intricate interplay between hereditary factors and biology-altering exposures - and its decline can progress into illness. However, the line between pathological and non-pathological states is ambiguous and overlaps in clinical profiles make diagnostic boundaries difficult to define.
Utilizing a deep phenotyping approach, our research aims to uncover multimodal risk-signatures associated with prodromal and intermediate mental health phenotypes, driving forward the implementation of precision psychiatry.
Our ultimate ambition is to pave the way for tailored interventions that target the unique biological underpinnings of each individual's mental health profile, ushering in a new era of personalized psychiatric care.
