David Olagnier is an Associate Professor with tenure at Aarhus University's Department of Biomedicine in Denmark, currently leading a laboratory and serving as Co-Principal Investigator at the Center of Excellence in Immunology of Viral Infections. His educational background includes a PhD in Immunology and Infectious Diseases from the University of Toulouse, France. With extensive research experience spanning various prestigious institutions globally, including McGill University in Canada and the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute in the USA, Olagnier has secured significant grants and fellowships, notably from the Lundbeck, the NovoNordisk and the Danish Cancer Society Foundations. He has received numerous awards and honors for his scientific contributions, such as the 2022 ICIS-REGENERON New Investigator Award, the 2021 EMDS Junior Investigator Research Award and the 2021ACS Infectious Diseases Young Investigator Award. He also received in 2020 the William Nielsens Award for outstanding achievement in cancer research. On top of his 80 peer-reviewed published articles and a notable publication record in high-impact journals with more than 3500 citations, David is an accomplished educator, lecturing in various immunology and microbiology courses for both molecular medicine and medical students.
