Outreach activities

The TRANSCEND network will use this page to share information, communicate outreach and generate awareness. We envision it to become a relevant source for the European stakeholders working in translational research and treatment of complex conditions and further hope that the public can find this website useful to find more information about our research. Our outreach activities run from more field-specific and classical formats such as institutional seminars, conferences, peer-reviewed publications, data sharing activities and PhD theses, to public lectures, webinars, podcasts, press interviews, social media posts and others.

Think Piece in the TRANSMITTER:

New perspective calls for embracing complexity to strengthen translational neuroscience

Linda Douw (AUMC), Klaus Eyer (AU) and Lara Keuck (UNIBI) wrote a think piece in the Transmitter in April 2026. It provides a new perspective arguing that basic neuroscience can improve its impact on human health by embracing, rather than minimizing, biological complexity and variability in experimental research. This emphasizes the central theme of the TRANSCEND network. Accordingly, heterogeneity across individuals, environments and disease presentations should be treated as a valuable source of scientific insight rather than experimental "noise." The article highlights the TRANSCEND doctoral network as a valuable interdisciplinary training initiative designed to equip early-career researchers with the conceptual and methodological tools needed to advance more robust, reproducible and clinically relevant neuroscience research.
