Studying the first line of immune defense against viral infections

CiViA aims to uncover novel immune mechanisms that contribute to early defense against infections, and also to decipher how the delicate balance between protective and pathological immune responses are achieved.
At CiViA we study the early defense against viral infections, and challenge current paradigms by exploring novel antiviral mechanisms as well as classical pattern recognition receptor-mediated host defense.
CiViA consists of five research groups based at AU and at the Technical University Munich (TUM).
