Yingying Cong 🇨🇳

Hello! I'm Yingying Cong, a senior postdoc in Reggiori's lab.I am a virologist with a lot of expertise in uncovering the mechanism of respiratory viral infection in host cells, including coronaviruses and influenza viruses.

I have a veterinary bachelor's and master's background, unfortunately, I am not a vet because I like to work with viruses and cell biology ©. At the beginning of 2015, I started working in Reggiori's group and grew up from a junior PhD to a senior postdoc. My projects mainly focused on the interaction between autophagy or autophagy-related proteins and viruses, as well as the development of anti-viral therapy.

Besides work, I spend my spare time with my partner and friends, busy with tasting different alcohol, making cocktails, and trying dishes from worldwide. I also try to keep some time for myself because I also like to play LEGO, so my colleagues and friends always invited me to assemble their
'IKEA LEGO' when we moved to Aarhus.

Valentín Cóppola-Segovia 🇺🇾

Hello there!! I'm Valentin Cóppola-Segovia, I did my bachelor's in biology with a major in Neurosciences in Uruguay (UdelaR), and my MSc and PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology in Brazil (UFPR), always studying neurodegenerative diseases. Given that my interest within neurdegeneration lies in the study of protein aggregation and post-translational modifications, I joined Reggiori's lab at the end of May 2023 to study aggrephagy of proteins associated with proteinopathies of the SNC. Outside the lab, I'm an amateur photographer that enjoys playing music and do some sports, that takes every chance to go back to Uruguay and Brazil, to visit family
and friends.

Jakob Valdbjørn Kanne 🇩🇰

Hello! My name is Jakob and i am the newest post doc to join the Aarhus Autophagy group (1/7). After finishing my thesis and fist post doc working with autophagy and cellular reprogramming, i looked for a place to dive further into this field of research. And it so happened that Fulvio was searching for someone to do exactly that, and i was lucky enough to get the chance to do so!

When i am not doing science i love to spend time outside in the nature with my wife and kid since the most enthusiastic audience when it comes biology are small kids with their bottomless curiosity. When the the daily lectures are over i enjoy cooking with good beers on side, ending the day playing board games when time permits it!

Prado Vargas Duarte 🇪🇸

Hello! I am Prado Vargas Duarte, a junior postdoc in Reggiori's Lab. I have expertise on live-cell imaging, fluorescence microscopy and biochemistry.

During my PhD studies in Germany. I had the opportunity to collaborate with this group and I found that it was fantastic and cool working with them. Then, my interest and motivation to understand the autophagy pathway popped up. Therefore, I decided to join Reggiori's Lab to pursue my dreams and grow up in my research career.

Besides work I spend my time playing board games with my friends and also alone. I love to share time with my family and my friends enjoying a good conversation, food and drinks under the sun (when it is possible ). I have a big passion for music therefore enjoy playing soundtracks with my clarinet. Let's see what this new adventure in Denmark provides me, I am looking forward to learn more and more.

Kennith Brian Castelino 🇮🇳

Hello everyone! My name is Kennith Brian Castelino and I am currently doing my Master's thesis in the Reggiori-Mari lab under the guidance of Dr. Muriel Mari. I am passionate about learning and applying transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to my project which is understanding the effects of a drug on influencing autophagy in mammalian cells.

Other than that, I shuttle between the Reggiori and Mari labs to perform other cell and molecular biology experiments for my project. I hope to explore the world of EM and learn more in the coming years.

Outside of work, I love to do some amateur photography, read Science fiction and fantasy books and I also love to bake and cook! I am superthrilled to be a part of such a dynamic and fun group of Scientists!

Monja Müller 🇩🇪

Hi tweeps! My name is Monja Müller, and I am the brand-new PhD student. I joined this research group in February 2023 and since then I am eager to discover the world of autophagy. My journey with biomedical research started in the field of vascular biology, studying endothelial cells in a flow chamber and under extensive fluorescence microscopy during my Bachelor and Master thesis. For the latter, I came to Aarhus and fell in love with the city. Therefore, I decided to stay and to broaden my knowledge by changing the subject. Now I am studying protein aggregates and their specific
degradation mechanism.

If I am not currently in the lab, you most probably find me doing one of four things:
1. Knitting and crocheting, which has been my absolute passion since last October;
2. Being outside with my camera studying the beauty of nature;
3. Playing one of many board games of our collection; or
4. Riding my gravel bike over hill and dale.
If you are in the city and would like to do or try one of these things, let me know!

Pavani Rekulapally 🇮🇳

Hello! I am Pavani Rekulapally, and I am a newly minted PhD student in the Autophagy-Aarhus group. I have been introduced to the fascinating field of autophagy through an internship at the JNCASR in India during my bachelors. Later I joined as a research assistant in an organelle biology lab at the IISc to study organelle contact sites and their unravelling mysteries to interact and function together. Recently, I pursued a master's degree in Immunology at the University of Glasgow, UK.

Joining Fulvio's group is an exciting opportunity to delve even deeper into the intricate world of identifying the regulators and understanding their molecular mechanisms involved in the autophagosome biogenesis.

Outside of scientific endeavours, I spend talking to family and friends through phone and going for a walk. Occasionally I love to do drawings.
