Profile

I’m a senior consultant and associate professor with a passion for a rare cancer known as sarcoma. I combine clinical work, research, and communication, and lead several national and international studies. I'm driven by making a difference for patients and sharing knowledge, both as a mentor and as a medical specialist for sarcoma content at the Danish Encyclopædia

Research

My research is dedicated to improving the treatment of patients with sarcomas—a complex and rare group of cancers. I lead and participate in a range of national and international studies, spanning from clinical trials to molecular biological analyses. The focus is on understanding the genetic and biological mechanisms behind treatment response and resistance, to develop more targeted and personalised treatment strategies. I work closely with international networks such as EURACAN and EORTC and am responsible for several protocols and biobank projects in Denmark.

Teaching activities

My academic journey began with a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology (Cand.scient.) from Aarhus University in 2004, where I developed an early interest in cancer biology. I completed my medical degree at the same university in 2007, and in 2015, I defended my PhD in oncology—also at Aarhus University. The combination of scientific and clinical training has provided me with a strong foundation to work at the intersection of research and patient care.

Collaborations

In addition to my clinical and research work, I serve as an educator in several settings, including the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse). I contribute with expert input and help communicate the latest knowledge about sarcomas to both healthcare professionals and patients. I regularly give lectures and teach on rare cancers, and I see it as a vital part of my work to make complex knowledge accessible and applicable in practice.
