Research

I am Professor of Experimental Atherosclerosis and head of the Atherosclerosis Research Unit investigating the cellular mechanisms underlying atherosclerosis and related vascular diseases. Our goal is to find new targets for atherosclerosis therapy, leading to better prevention of heart attack and stroke.

Collaborations

We are exploring the connection between obesity and atherosclerosis in the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge project "The adipocyte-smooth muscle cell connection", in collaboration with researchers from Aarhus University and Karolinska Institutet, as well as in the Leducq-funded international network ADAMANT with researchers from Karolinska Institutet, New York University, University of Chicago, and Rockefeller University.

Consultancy

As a Career Ambassador, I am available for informal conversations about career strategies for younger researchers at the Department of Clinical Medicine. I can share my experience applying for grants from the DFF, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the European Research Council to support a research career, and I have a broad interest in career paths both within and outside academia. Feel free to reach out to me.
