Profile

I am associate professor and the acting research manager in Geriatric Medicine and am responsible for research projects, teaching, and supervision. I have a PhD degree in medicine, a master degree in health science.
I work on clinical studies in geriatrics, health services research, and nursing with the aim of improving patient care for older adults living with illness and frailty.
Also, I am vice president of the Danish Society for Nursing Research. 

 

Research

My research focuses on improving the care of older patients through better organization of the healthcare system and targeted interventions. My work encompasses areas such as frailty, hip fractures, anemia, prevention of delirium, geriatric follow-up, prehabilitation prior to surgery for knee and hip osteoarthritis, hospital-at-home care, and the reduction of hospital-acquired complications through interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research.

Teaching activities

I serve as supervisor to master’s and ph.d.-students. In addition, I teach courses in academic writing and research methods.

Collaborations

I collaborate with the Department of Geriatric Care, Galliera Hospital, Genova, Italy on the validation of abbreviated form of Multidimensional Prognostic Index.
Also, I collaborate with Dr. Jeffrey Carson, Rutgers - the State University of New Jersey, USA on an Individual Patient Data meta-analysis on blood transfusion strategies.  
And finally a Nordic research group about oral care in geriatric hospitalized patients: Professor Helga Bragadottir,Iceland and Professor Kjersti Grønning, Norway.
