Abstract:
I will provide an overview of what we have learned so far about the biology underlying ADHD through large-scale genetic studies conducted over the past decade. ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental condition, often diagnosed in childhood, characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Through genetic studies involving hundreds of thousands of individuals and analyses of both common and rare genetic variants, we have identified robust ADHD risk loci, implicated specific tissues, cell types, and developmental stages in the condition, and characterized the genetic overlap between ADHD and a range of other psychiatric, behavioural, and medical conditions.
