Maintaining Accurate Records in tick@lab

Accurate use of tick@lab is essential for correct animal management, documentation, and billing. We are happy to assist with questions and corrections. However, extensive work required to resolve long-standing or complex registration errors may be subject to charges. If you are unsure how to proceed, please contact us before taking action.

Accurate registration and handling of animals in tick@lab are essential for ensuring reliable experiment planning, correct documentation, compliance, and accurate billing.

Unfortunately, we occasionally encounter cases where animals have not been registered, marked, transferred, or handled correctly in the system, or where established procedures have not been followed. While individual errors may seem minor, they can accumulate over time and lead to significant challenges in animal tracking, experiment management, reporting, and invoicing.

The Laboratory Animal Core Facility is always happy to assist researchers in identifying and resolving issues in tick@lab. In many cases, we can help clarify procedures and correct registrations with limited effort. However, when errors have been ongoing for an extended period or have affected a larger number of animals, the investigation and correction process can become very time-consuming. In such cases, support provided by the Core Facility may be charged at the applicable hourly rate according to our current price list.

We strongly encourage all users to take an active responsibility for maintaining accurate records and following the established tick@lab guidelines. Careful and timely registration helps ensure data quality, proper animal management, regulatory compliance, and efficient administration for everyone involved.

Most importantly: if you are in doubt, please ask. We would much rather help prevent a problem than spend time correcting one later. Early guidance can often resolve questions quickly and help avoid more complex issues in the future.

If you need assistance or are unsure how to handle a specific task in tick@lab, please contact the Laboratory Animal Core Facility and Team Leader Peter Aakær Nielsen at pan@biomed.au.dk for support. We are here to help.
