Associate Professor, group leader, and co-chair of the “Kidney, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases” research theme at the Department of Biomedicine
.
I am conducting research on the mechanisms of progressive kidney disease with particular focus on the transition of acute kidney injury towards chronic kidney disease. Using longitudinal intravital 2-photon microscopy, my goal is to understand the dynamic cellular interactions contributing to disease and to identify novel drug targets to prevent and ease chronic kidney disease.
I lead a research group dedicated to deciphering the mechanisms of progressive kidney disease. In parallel, I teach pharmacology to students of medicine, molecular medicine, and dentistry, with a strong emphasis on research-based learning.
