I work as an AC-TAP staff in the Phenotyping Core Facility at Institute of Biomedicine. My main task is to introduce and support new users in the correct use of machines and techniques for cardivascular and metabolic measurements.
I have a background in animal physiology, as I did my PhD and post doc at Zoophysiology, Bioscience AU.
At the moment, most of my time is focused on the following techniques:
- Newton in vivo imager, capable of capturing high-resolution images using both fluorescence and bioluminescence
- Mitochondrial respiration analysis using the Oroboros O2k—a highly precise respirometer that measures the oxygen consumption of the cell's energy factories under various conditions, as this can differ between animals and tissue types
- Whole-animal blood pressure measurements using the CODA tail-cuff system on mice; this method involves training the mice to accept the measurement procedure.
