Before getting access, you must also be able to present a course certificate from a passed laboratory animal science course. This can be a basic course (EU category AD) allowing you to carry out procedures on animals under another person's license, or it can be an advanced course (EU category ABD) allowing you to hold a personal license to design, plan and carry out animal experiments. If you want to know more about the different categories of courses or want to see which courses are offered at Department of Biomedicine, please see the page Courses in laboratory animal science.
The course certificate along with your AUID should be sent to the person with whom you attended the mandatory introduction tour. Once you have participated in the introduction tour and signed the checklist, you will be granted access on your personal AU identification card.
If you have a course certificate from another country than Denmark, it is possible to seek dispensation from the educational requirements of the Danish legislation. Please refer to the Animal Experiments Inspectorate's webpage for description of how to apply for dispensation.
