Where were you when you met your sweetheart?
Where were you on the same day the year before?Professor Anders Nykjær and his colleagues in the PROMEMO basic research centre carry out research into why your brain has probably stored the answer to the first question, while your memory almost certainly fails completely when it comes to question number two.
Diseases such as stress, PTSD, depression and other psychiatric disorders affect ourmemory. So the researchers are trying to understand how nerve cells in the brain communicate with each other in the healthy and diseased brain, because this will enable the development of drugs that can impact on the memory.
