Veterinary assistance

At Department of Biomedicine, it is possible for researchers to get veterinary advice and guidance in relation to their animal experiments.

The veterinarians' primary tasks are to ensure the health and welfare of the animals, and to make sure that legislation, guidelines and applicable standards are complied with.

In addition, the veterinarians can contribute with assistance in the following:

  • Clinical examinations
  • Treatment of sick animals
  • Advice on experimental design, experimental or surgical procedures, anesthesia and analgesia
  • Project start-up
  • Review of applications for experimental licenses before submission to the Animal Experiments Inspectorate
  • Import and export of animals
  • Import and export of cryopreserved sperm or embryos
  • Import and export of animal by-products (ABP)
  • Necropsy of dead or euthanized animals
