Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute

Institut d'Investigació en Ciències de la Salut Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP)

Ignacio Blanco, Javier Martinez Picado
Team: Lidia Garrido Sanz, Itziar Erkizia, Elisa Martro, Antonio Escalas-Bordoy

The Health Sciences Research Institute of the “Germans Trias i Pujol” Foundation (IGTP) is located at the Can Ruti campus in Badalona (Barcelona, Spain), a biomedical area that hosts multiple research institutes and biomedical facilities associated to a modern tertiary University Hospital “Germans Trias i Pujol”. The IGTP aims to generate, preserve, disseminate and increase multidisciplinary and translational knowledge in biomedical sciences, through a dynamic, efficient and effective organization. At the IGTP, several teams are devoted to innovative activity in clinical and therapeutic management protocols, as well as to the optimization of healthcare services. In partnership with the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute within the campus, the IGTP carries out cutting-edge research in immunoinfectiology a primary focus on human viral diseases. Immunogenetics, mainly in HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 have been important areas of interest in recent years. Within UNDINE, IGTP/IrsiCaixa will contribute will genomic assays in selected samples from our Center and will contribute to the integrative analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, immunological and clinical data.

Vall d'Hebron Research Institute

Fundacio Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron - Institut de Recerca (VHIR)

Pere Soler-Palacín
Team: Andrea Martín Nalda, Jacques G. Rivière, Marina Garcia-Prat, Alba Parra Martínez, Clara Franco Jarava, Roger Colobran Oriol

VHIR is a public sector institution that promotes and develops the biomedical research, innovation and teaching at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, the largest hospital within the Catalan Institute of Health. The immunocompromised child and translational immunology research groups work together to decipher the role of host-pathogen interaction in infectious diseases. Within UNDINE, in addition of co-coordination the cohorts work package (WP1), we will analyse the role of IEI and immunological phenocopies as risk factors for severe viral infections, hence also contributing to work packages 4, 6 and 7.

Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute

Fundacio Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL)

Aurora Pujol
Team: Carlos Casasnovas, Valentina Vélez, Stéphane Fourcade, Agatha Schlüter, Montserrat Ruiz, Laura Planas

We are an internationally renowned group in the field of inherited metabolic diseases and neurodegeneration, integrated in the research area of Neurosciences at IDIBELL. Our group is currently integrated by 12 members: the coordinator A Pujol, 3 neurologists, a senior investigator, a bioinformatician, 2 postdoc, 2 PhD, and 2 techs. Our main lines of research are: 1) Physiopathology, identification of biomarkers and clinical trials in X-ALD, and 2) Genomic Medicine: Diagnostic and identification of new genes for leukodystophies and motorneuron diseases. Within UNDINE, we are involved in COVID recruitment, genetic resistance to SARS-CoV and genetics and immunology of MIS-C/A and pernio, contributing to work packages 1, 4, 6 and 7.
