We are located at the German Primate Center (Deutsches Primatenzentrum, DPZ), a member of the Leibniz association. Researchers at DPZ address basic biological and biomedical questions in several fields, including evolution, behaviour and infection. We are interested in host cell interactions and pathogenesis of emerging viruses, with a focus on coronaviruses. Within UNDINE we will contribute to work package 2, thereby investigating how the choice of the entry route impacts innate responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Moreover, we will analyse how polymorphisms in host factors modulating the choice of entry routes impact the susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe disease. Finally, we seek to uncover differences in host cell entry and triggering of innate responses between SARS-CoV-2 Wt and variants.
