Human genetics and immunity of critical COVID-19 pneumonia
This work package is dedicated to the search for genetic variants underlying critical COVID-19 pneumonia. For that purpose, we take advantage of large-scale human genome sequencing. Apart from that, we aim to characterize the biochemistry, expression, cellular localization, and functional consequences of identified genetic variants. The goal is to use the knowledge on immune signalling pathways and immune responses to understand the causal relationship between genotype and cellular and clinical phenotypes. Moreover, we study the impact of different SARS-CoV-2 strains during infection in vivo and in vitro in patients with identified genetic variants underlying critical COVID-19.
